Frequently Asked Questions
I'm uncomfortable on video chat - can't we just meet in person?
I get it - so am I! I'm currently limiting the number of clients I see in person and I am only accepting new clients on telehealth, so I do encourage all my clients to give the video chat a try - twice (the first session is always awkward but it tends to get easier the second time around). If you're absolutely certain it's not for you or if you do not have access to reliable internet service, a private space to talk, or a compatible camera, we can absolutely do phone sessions or outdoor walk-and-talk sessions in the city of Burbank may be an option, depending on our mutual availability and weather. Please note that some insurance plans may not reimburse for phone sessions and/or outdoor walks so be sure to contact your insurer to verify your coverage in advance.
How often do we meet?
I offer 50-minute weekly sessions. I always recommend starting out together with weekly sessions so we can get to know each other and the challenge you're working on and get some supports in place, but over time, we can work toward meeting every-other-week if you'd like to. Want to meet for longer sessions? More frequently? Let's discuss it.
What's your cancellation policy?
I know life happens and I try to be flexible about cancelling and rescheduling appointments and I offer optional email appointment reminders. My policy is that I require 24-hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment and I charge a $50 fee for appointments cancelled within 24 hours of their start time or missed.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on a lot of factors. We'll be working on what's likely "the big stuff" in your life, It may have taken years (if not decades) to get to where you are now, so sorting it out it will probably take some time too - plus we'll doing all that while your real life continues and the demands of your real-world relationships and obligations keep on coming. While it's tough to say how long it'll all take, I promise you I'll do my best to get caught up quickly, go at your pace, and push when the time feels right, and if you feel like you aren't getting what you need or progressing at the rate you want, I want you to let me know.
How much is a session and how do I pay?
My standard fee for a session is $150. I also have a limited number of sliding scale appointments available depending on the client's need and availability. Payment is due at the end of our session via a debit or credit card, which is processed through a HIPAA-compliant online servicer. You may use an HSA/FSA card through the service, but please contact your account servicer in advance to find out what kind of documentation you'll need from me so I can have it ready.

Do you accept my insurance?
Maybe! Let's find out. My practice uses a HIPAA-compliant service called Headway for insurance billing. For more information about your coverage and to find out if I'm in-network for your plan, please visit my Headway portal.
If I'm not in your insurance network and you have a PPO plan, I may be available as an out-of-network provider. This means that I cannot bill your insurance directly, but I can provide you with a monthly statement (called a "SuperBill") for you to submit to your insurance company to seek reimbursement or credit toward your deductible (if applicable). Please let me know before we start treatment if you would like SuperBills and what your insurer allows and requires. I will do my best to make sure to get you everything you need for reimbursement, but I can not guarantee any SuperBill will be reimbursed or intervene on your behalf to advocate for you, so I recommend you speak to your insurer before we meet for more information on whether they offer out-of-network reimbursement, what psychotherapeutic services and billing codes they reimburse for, whether they reimburse for telehealth services, and their process for submitting SuperBills.
And if you'd prefer to keep insurance out of this, that's a-ok too. We can work together using a system called "private pay" or "out-of-pocket" where I bill you directly.
